Congratulations to Joey Miller (1960), who has been chosen as the John Carroll High School Distinguished Alumni for 2007-2008. Joey and his company St. Lucie Battery & Tire have sponsored the Habitat for Humanity home building project at John Carroll for two years. In doing so he has enabled hundreds of students to learn new skills and build a home for someone less fortunate.
Joey has owned St. Lucie Battery & Tire for approximately 40 years, is active with Habitat for Humanity in St. Lucie County, WPSL’s Christmas Kids, St. Anastasia Catholic School, Humane Society of St. Lucie County, is a past member of the JCHS Annual Giving Campaign Advisory Board, and a current member of Riverside Bank Community Development Board.
Joey’s family includes his lovely and generous wife Annette; son Mickey (1986) and Kelly (Talbott) Miller (1986), and their son Evan; son Doug (1988) and Marlene Miller, and their three children Matthew, Caleb, and Jackson; daughter Amy (Miller) (1993) and Dale Boyd and their two sons Jacob and Josh; and stepson Jeffrey Skaggs.
Joey is an outstanding alumnus who serves as a role model in our community for giving generously to others. For example, Joey won the $10,000 in the 300 Club Dinner, Dance, and Auction drawing on February 1st and generously donated the entire amount back to the school. We would like to thank Joey, his family, and St. Lucie Battery & Tire for their generosity and for making our community a better place.
