JOHN CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS EARN TOP SCORES ON NATIONAL SPANISH EXAMINATIONS

FORT PIERCE – John Carroll High School students recently received national recognition for their performance on the 2019 National Spanish Examinations.

John Carroll students earned two gold, three silver and five bronze medals, as well as 12 honorable mentions.Erika Malits and Johanna Rizo earned gold medals; Rafael Carrasquero, Steffano Segovia-Palacios, and Samuel Sirak earned silver; Erynn Back, Leslie Fournier, Camila Iglesias, Amy Kutzler, and Ayla Pate earned bronze; Smarlensly Altenor, Vivian Alcalde,  Valeria Bartra, Ella Basile, Katherine Cheyne, Ella Clark, Amy Kenney, Rylie Marone, Hannah Rankin, Ryan Rosenberg, Michael Vogt, and Leah Winsker received honorable mentions.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious, because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 146,000 students participating in 2019,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, national director of the exams.

The National Spanish Examinations are administered every year in grades six through 12 and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
