JCHS School Prayer

2017-08-10

As stated in our mission statement, “we recognize Jesus Christ as the model for the whole person we seek to develop.” Therefore, our Mission Effectiveness Committee, led by administrators, teachers, and parents, asked for input from our students and formed a school prayer that will unite and strengthen us. Teachers, coaches, and students will be praying this school prayer at the beginning of class, during athletic practices and games, and at club meetings.

We encourage our John Carroll families to join us in solidarity and include this special prayer in your daily prayer routine. The prayer restates the simple, yet powerful message Jesus Christ shared with the Pharisees, “Teacher,* which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him,* “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” Matthew 22: 36-40

May we reflect on Christ’s message and embrace our school prayer as a constant reminder to love God above all things and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

JCHS School Prayer:

Lord, direct our actions,

and guide us by your Spirit

that during prayer, work, study, and play

we may always remember to love You above all things

and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.
