| The JOHN CARROLL Tradition |
"Education is one of the most precious possessions a man can have. It is something lasting, and nobody can take it from you. You can lose your wealth, your power, your freedom, your health, but you never lose a good education." — Right Reverend Monsignor Michael Beerhalter Former Pastor, St. Anastasia School, Central Catholic High School, and John Carroll High School |
| he history of John Carroll High School dates back to its founding year, 1916, when the original St. Anastasia School building at Tenth Street and Orange Avenue
was erected. The first year of high school was added in 1932, followed by the addition of a grade level each subsequent year, culminating in the first graduating class from St. Anastasia in 1936. The elementary school was relocated to its present site on Thirty-third Street in 1961. In the fall of 1962, St. Anastasia High School was renamed Central Catholic High School. In 1965, a new high school was built on the present Delaware Avenue site adjoining the grade school and was named John Carroll High School in honor of Pope John XXIII and Bishop Coleman Carroll. |

It brings back memories of when I went to John Carroll twenty-one years ago. It also
feels good to be able to offer my son the security of people who care about him, his future, and his spirtuality. This is truly a positive place where the kids feel secure and know that they can speak with their teachers and staff about anything. — Chanda Newman, alumni and parent of JCHS student |
