JOHN CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS RECOGNIZED FOR NATIONAL SPANISH EXAM SCORES

FORT PIERCE – John Carroll High School students were recently nationally recognized for their performance on the 2022 National Spanish Examinations, earning a total of one silver medal, five bronze medals and 11 honorable mentions on the level two and three exams.

The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades six through twelve and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. The exams were made possible at John Carroll via a generous donation from the Newnham family in support of Dr. Mary Yudin´s classroom.

“I am so very grateful to the Newnham family for their continued support of this valuable enrichment opportunity for our John Carroll students,” Dr. Yudin said.

Sophomore Leilany Gonzalez earned a silver medal. Freshmen Wyatt Friedberg, Diego Trybul, and Mayra Fajadro, and sophomores Anali Nduku and Arielle Rosenberg earned bronze medals. Freshmen Matthew de la Paz, Andrew Negherbon, Evan Sierra, and Ariadne Rodriguez, sophomores Leila Gonzalez, Gabriela Herrera, Jacqueline Milles, Melissa Thomas, Danielle Levesque, and Cole Sintes, and junior Dawson Maehl earned honorable mentions.

“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, national director of the exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 73,000 students participating in 2022.”
