FORT PIERCE – John Carroll High School is proud to announce that its students excelled in their Advanced Placement (AP) course testing this year.

John Carroll is an AP Capstone school. AP courses provide college-level work to high school students, who may receive college credit for these courses. AP courses are known for their challenging curricula, but what is most remarkable is how well John Carroll’s students performed despite learning and testing remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to COVID-19, the format of all AP exams were radically changed at the last minute, and AP students across the country took their AP exams at home on their computers. Of John Carroll’s students enrolled in the AP Seminar and AP Research classes that are part of the capstone program, 100% passed their respective AP exams.

Nine of John Carroll’s AP courses exceeded both the state and global pass rates, including AP Biology, AP English Language and Composition, AP Research, AP Seminar, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Spanish Literature, AP United States Government and Politics, AP United States History, and AP World History.

“We are so proud of all the students who challenged themselves to take these rigorous college-level courses and their teachers who worked so hard to ensure they were prepared to do their best,” said Corey Heroux, John Carroll High School principal. “We are especially proud of our students and teachers for achieving these high rates during such a challenging and unique time in our nation’s history!
