JOHN CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETES COMMIT TO PLAYING COLLEGE FOOTBALL
FORT PIERCE – Three John Carroll High School senior athletes signed their letters of intent to continue to play football at the college level on Friday, Dec. 23 in the John Carroll gymnasium.
Senior student athlete signees included Wilky Denaud, Austin Shevak, and Aidan Singleton. Multi-sport athlete Denaud signed with Auburn University to continue playing football at the next level and will transfer early in January 2023. Austin signed with Ave Maria University, where he will join his older brother and John Carroll alum Bryce Shevak on the football field. Dual sport athlete Aidan signed with Lehigh University.
“I want to thank the Lord above,” Denaud said. “Without Him, none of this would be possible.”
Singleton thanked John Carroll for shaping him into who he is today, as he grew closer to God and his family while attending John Carroll.
Austin thanked God and his parents and said he “could not do all of this without them.”
In addition to its strong academic program, John Carroll offers its students a variety of sports including baseball, football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ golf, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ lacrosse, girls’ flag football, cheerleading, cross country, girls’ weightlifting, swimming, softball, track and field, and volleyball. “It goes to show that hard work and dedication truly does pay off. Our athletes who signed work on their craft year-round, and I am so thrilled that all of them get to further their education while playing the sport they love,” said Mickey Groody, athletic director and varsity football coach. “It’s going to be exciting to see what they all accomplish at the next level. These athletes really help define what we do here at John Carroll – not only in the classroom but also on the athletic fields. It is even more exciting to me to see not only what they do at the next level but what kind of husbands and fathers these young men become. This is a great group of young men, and I am so happy for them! It’s an exciting time to be a part of JC Nation!”
