JCHS mourns the loss of Sister Paul Emelia Brown

Sister Paul Emelia Brown, 84, died June 29, 2013, at Hospice at Good Samaritan Hospital, West Palm Beach. She was born in Fort Pierce and lived in West Palm Beach. She graduated from St. Anastasia High School in Fort Pierce, received a bachelor of education degree in secretarial science from Siena Heights College in Adrian, Mich., and a master of science degree in administration/school supervision from Barry College in Miami Shores. She spent 41½ years ministering in elementary and secondary education in Detroit, Deerfield and Ruth, Mich.; Cincinnati; Grafton, W.Va.; and Miami Shores, Miami, Fort Pierce, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. She was assistant principal for two years, and principal for six years at John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce; and principal for two years at St. James School in Miami. She spent seven years in pastoral ministry at St. Anastasia Parish in Fort Pierce and 16 years in pastoral and bereavement ministries at St. Joseph Parish in Stuart. Survivors include her sisters, Mary Ann Hawkins of Winter Haven and Rosemary Smith of Fort Pierce; and brother, Paul Brown of Long Beach, Calif. Services: A memorial liturgy will be at 12:30 p.m. July 5 at St. Anastasia Church in Fort Pierce. Arrangements are by Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service.
