Listen to WQCS to hear the performance
WQCS Presents Area Performers
on Young Musicians Spotlight
Public radio station WQCS / 88.9 FM listeners will enjoy the performances of more than 19 music students from Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin county schools, plus home schooled students, in its popular Young Musicians Spotlight radio special.
The selected students will be featured in a one-hour radio program on Sunday, May 25 at 1 p.m. on HD2 on the radio station website and on Monday, May 26 at 8 p.m. on the WQCS main channel, as well as on HD1 on the website. The HD channels are available at www.wqcs.org. Janie Gould, well-known for her Floridays history interviews on WQCS, is hosting the program.
Young Musicians Spotlight is underwritten by Shann’s Tax Service, Inc. in Port St. Lucie.
Representing Indian River County on the radio program is piano soloist Frank Quintana from St. Edward’s School in Vero Beach.
Ten students selected from St. Lucie County include: Darrell Decius, a piano soloist and Justin Hines, a flute soloist, both from St. Anastasia Catholic School in Fort Pierce; Darren Decius, piano soloist at John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce; three piano soloists Emmanuel François, Callie Zheng and Geoffrey Zheng, all from Lincoln Park Academy; Erick Lora, cello soloist, from Morningside Academy in Port St. Lucie; and vocalist Tori Famularo and piano soloists Gianna Mazzoli and Nicolas Taggart, all from Palm Pointe Educational Research School in Port St. Lucie.
Eight students were selected from Martin County schools and home schooled students following the auditions. They include: Paige Banks, piano soloist, from Jensen Beach High School; guitarist Mia Ferreri from Palm City Elementary; Gregory Fidele, piano soloist, from Stuart Middle School; Claudia Peng, piano soloist from Murray Middle School in Port Salerno; and Julia Vitale, piano soloist from St. Joseph Catholic School in Stuart.
A performing trio includes bass guitarist Connor Shann of Jensen Beach High School, violinist Arianna Joiner and cellist Nathan Joiner, both home schooled students from Hobe Sound.
