JCHS has selected “Be Bold. Be For Christ!” as its theme for the 2014-2015 school year. After being inspired by Matthew Kelly’s book, Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic, our administration wanted to incorporate a concept that was mentioned in the book to, “be the best version of yourself.”

One way to accomplish this would be to “Be Bold,” in showing your Christianity by spreading the gospel in words and in actions. Incorporating “Be For Christ!” is a way of enthusiastically announcing that John Carroll, as a faith family, seeks to model our Master Teacher, Jesus Christ, in order to take His message to the world through every opportunity.

As Matthew Kelly wrote in the book, PRAYER, STUDY, GENEROSITY, and EVANGELIZATION, are the four signs to help to create a dynamic Catholic.

At John Carroll High School, we will concentrate on a different “sign” each quarter, with a designated bible verse selected to coincide with the noun.

The first quarter we will concentrate on the sign “PRAYER,” and the verse, “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be known to God.” -Philippians 4:6

The second quarter will concentrate on the sign, “STUDY,” and the verse, “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth...”- 2 Timothy 2:15

The third quarter we will concentrate on the sign “GENEROSITY” and the sign, “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put in your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.”- Luke 6:38

The fourth quarter we will concentrate on the verse, “EVANGELIZATION” and the verse, “Honor Christ and let him be the Lord of your life. Always be ready to give an answer when someone asks you about your hope.”- 1 Peter 3:15

We encourage you to help us incorporate our theme throughout the year at your home, too. We will also be using the hash tag #BeBold on our social media sites to help query JCHS photos and posts in support of the school. We look forward to a successful and productive 2014-2015 school year, and hope you do, too!
