Freshman Retreats were a Big Success!

This is why we love John Carroll High School. Enjoy this beautiful letter by Jennie Capezza about the Freshman Retreat.

The 2015-2016 Freshman retreats were a big success! The two overnight retreats were filled with team-building activities, spiritual development, good food, and lots of laughter. The sixteen Senior Alpha members led and facilitated approximately one hundred incoming Freshmen during small group discussions, witness talks, and Scripture activities. Freshmen, Seniors, and faculty members also participated in a very special evening liturgy celebrated by Father Thomas Barrett. This year’s Freshman class exemplifies a strong spirituality and enthusiasm which was evident in their singing and clapping during the Masses. Mr. Mike Brennan, one of our devoted Religious Education teachers, and his band of guitarists and drummer, Miguel Reyes, led the lively music during the evening Masses. Mrs. Carol Daigle and Mrs. Joy Yancy assisted in serving breakfast. We appreciate their willingness to share their time and talents with our Freshman class. The weekend retreat concluded with Adoration led by Mr. Daniel Deza-Jaller, seminarian at Saint Anastasia Catholic Church. As the Director of Campus Ministry, I would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of this year’s retreats, Mr. Dominick Scotto and Mr. Joe Colarossi for faithfully ministering to our youth, and to the committed parents of the 2015-2016 Freshman class for making this year’s spiritual retreats a priority in the busy lives of their teenagers. May God continue to bless you and your families.

In Christ,
Jennie Capezza
