JOHN CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE ITS NEW ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

John Carroll High School is proud to announce its new Athletic Director, Nancy Hopper. At the conclusion of the 2016-2017 school year, Mr. Dave Raym will be resigning as AD to pursue new business ventures.

“We are grateful for Mr. Raym’s service and wish him all of God’s blessings as he pursues new business adventures. In order to ensure continuity and maintain our commitment to having the highest quality athletic programs, it is with great pleasure that I announce that Mrs. Nancy Hopper will be our new Athletic Director,” said Father Barrett, the President of John Carroll High School. “I am excited to have someone with extensive coaching experience, an alumna of John Carroll, and a current faculty member assume this key leadership role.”

After 13 years as the JCHS Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Hopper will be transitioning roles at the end of this school year. Hopper’s athletic career began at JCHS, as an athlete who played for Coach Jon Toler, winning 3 State Championship titles during her high school career. She earned an athletic scholarship to play volleyball at IRSC and continued her college career with full scholarship at Florida Southern College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. After graduation, she earned her master’s degree in School Counselling from Marshall University. In 2003, Mrs. Hopper joined the JCHS faculty as Physical Education teacher, and in 2004, became a Guidance Counselor at JCHS. With more than 30 years of high school coaching experience in softball and volleyball, she is ready to share her expertise in this new role.

“I am excited to assume the role as Athletic Director next school year,” remarked Mrs. Hopper. “I love John Carroll, and I look forward to continuing the tradition of strong athletic programs. I am grateful for this opportunity to support our student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and families. Go Rams!”

As the AD, Mrs. Hopper will have oversight of the athletic programs for all high school sports. She will supervise high school coaches, parent volunteers, student athletes, and high school sporting events. These sports include the fall sports: cheerleading- JV/V, cross country (boys & girls), football- JV/V, golf (boys & girls), volleyball- F/JV/V, swimming & diving (boys & girls), winter sports: basketball - boys JV/V and girls JV/V, cheerleading, weightlifting (girls), soccer (boys & girls), and spring sports: baseball- JV/V, lacrosse (boys & girls), softball, tennis (boys & girls), track & field (boys & girls).
