 New JCHS Principal Corey Heroux.pdf

John Carroll High School is proud to announce Corey Heroux as its new Principal. The JCHS alumna will be assuming her new role in June 2018, as Mr. Hopper, the current Principal, transitions to his new job.

Heroux graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2008, with dual Bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish and a minor in Education. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education Teaching Fellows program with a Master’s in Education after teaching for two years in Baton Rouge. Additionally, she graduated from the University of Notre Dame’s Remick Leadership Program in July 2016 with a Master’s in Educational Leadership. Heroux was named the JCHS “Teacher of the Year” for the 2011-2012 school year, having taught at JCHS from August 2010 until becoming Assistant Principal in August 2016.

“We are excited to announce the hiring of Mrs. Corey Heroux as Principal. Mrs. Heroux is a John Carroll graduate, a remarkable administrator, and a proven leader. We look forward to her assuming this role this June, and we are confident that she will continue the strength of this position that we have been blessed to maintain with Mr. Hopper,” remarked Rev. Thomas E. Barrett, the President of John Carroll High School.

Heroux, who lives in Vero Beach with her husband David and their two sons, is excited about the new role. “I believe that Catholic schools are to be places of sanctification for young people where they come to know and encounter Christ in their studies, their teachers, and their fellow classmates, as we prepare them for both college and heaven. I am honored to accept the principal role here at JCHS, and I believe God has great things in store for our school community,” said Heroux. In addition to being an active member of St. Helen Parish, she is also a member of the Notre Dame Club of Vero Beach.

Since becoming an administrator at John Carroll, Heroux has supervised the implementation of the school’s curriculum across departments, planned and implemented weekly professional development sessions for teachers focused on instructional strategies and practices, coordinated the Advanced Placement program, and directed the guidance department regarding course descriptions and student placement, while maintaining Diocesan records and coordinating details surrounding student graduation initiatives.
