Spiritual Opportunities

Virtue=Strength: John Carroll High School is committed to inspire, engage and strengthen the young men and women entrusted to our care. Together, we teach and model virtues through a school-wide program. Virtue=Strength™ works hand-in-hand with our religious education program. It emphasizes strengthening students’ moral character by intentionally exercising one new virtue each month, reinforcing Catholicism as a way of life, and not just another class to be passed.

The Virtue=Strength program has three pillars: Virtue, Ceremony and Catholic Identity. Virtue=Strength is a structured, intentional and specific method and curriculum to help form Catholic leaders and teach virtue. JCHS faculty and staff members also recognize students who exemplify the Virtue of the Month at Virtue=Strength Student Recognition ceremonies.

We invite you to pray, serve, and grow with us.

Mission Statement: Guided by our Catholic faith and tradition, we recognize Jesus Christ as the model for the whole person we seek to develop. Our mission is to inspire the pursuit of educational excellence, foster character formation, develop a commitment to service, and affirm the dignity of each student entrusted to our care.

Kairos Retreats
Students in Grade 12 are strongly encouraged to attend a Kairos retreat. Kairos is a Greek word meaning “The Lord’s Time.” The Kairos retreat is built upon a peer-to-peer ministry model which helps the retreatants deepen their relationships with themselves, their families, their friends and, most importantly, Jesus Christ. Prayer and Sacraments are an essential part of the retreat, as well as the retreatants’ involvement in discussions and group exercises. The retreatants may not leave the retreat with all of life’s answers, but will hopefully leave with a greater awareness of who they are through deepening their relationship with Christ. The three-night Kairos retreats are held at Our Lady of Florida Retreat Center and cost $325 per student. Contact Mr. David Downs at [email protected] with questions regarding the Kairos Retreat Program. There is a limited amount of funds available to provide full and partial scholarships to Seniors who would like to attend a Kairos retreat. Contact Mrs. Jennie Capezza at [email protected] to inquire about financial assistance. 2023-2024 Kairos Dates:Oct 2-5 and April 15-18
