All-Area Boys’ Track and Field
John Carroll senior and FIU commit Cody Menke dramatically won the 1A shot put on his final throw of the event and earned the honor of Athlete of the Year.

Cody Menke, John Carroll
Year: Senior
Highlights: The FIU commit dominated the area in both the shot put and discus all season, winning each event at the Treasure Lake Conference Championship. At the District 13-1A championship, he won the shot put and was second in the discus. After winning the Region 4-1A championship in the shot put, Menke on his final throw of his high school career tossed a personal best 16.11 meters to win the 1A state championship.
First Team:
Prince Strachan, John Carroll
Year: Senior
Highlights: A specialist in the 400-meter dash, Strachan won the event at the Treasure Lake Conference Championship and ran a personal best time of 50.50 to take second at the District 13-1A Championship. After an eighth place finish at regionals, Strachan ran 50.71 to take 11th at the FHSAA 1A Championships.

First Team:
Isabella Ramirez, John Carroll
Year: Freshman
Highlights: Ramirez had a terrific first high school season for the Rams, batting .500 with nine doubles, one home run and drove in 30 runs and had 15 multi-hit games and also struck out 42 batters in 26⅔ innings.
Sophia Loreto, John Carroll
Year: Sophomore
Highlights: Loreto had another excellent season as a two-way standout batting .421 with 14 doubles, two triples and one home run with 33 RBI and went 6-2 with a 2.30 ERA in 70 innings in the circle helping the Rams win a district title and a regional quarterfinal.
