INFORMATION REGARDING NAVIANCE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT


Some families received a legal notice from Kroll Settlement Administration regarding a proposed class action settlement related to the Naviance Platform.  The case, Q.J. v. PowerSchool Holdings, LLC, is pending in federal court in Chicago.  The legal notice is legitimate and was sent as part of a court-approved notification process to ensure class participants are aware they may be entitled to participate in a class action settlement.
 

Naviance is an online platform that schools throughout the county use for college and career planning.  Naviance is owned by PowerSchool.  PowerSchool denies the allegations in the lawsuit and that it violated the law. There has been no confirmed breach or unauthorized disclosure of school data.  PowerSchool has agreed to settle the lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of ongoing litigation.
 

John Carroll High School is not a party to the lawsuit and has no involvement in the legal proceedings or the proposed class action legal settlement.  John Carroll High School has not been accused of any wrongdoing.   John Carroll High School is committed to protecting student data privacy and security and complies with all applicable laws concerning student data privacy and security.
