For over 40 years, John Carroll students have been selected to serve as faith leaders among their peers. The Alpha Peer Ministry program is a senior elective that gives students the opportunity to guide others toward an encounter with Christ by sharing their faith and using their unique talents.
Commissioned by the Bishop of the Diocese of Palm Beach, the Alpha team leads grade-level days of reflection for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. They also host retreat days for local Catholic middle schools, including Saint Joseph, Saint Helen, and Saint Anastasia.
Students in the program grow deeply in their own faith through daily Scripture reflection using lectio divina, along with ongoing formation guided by the Alpha coordinator, campus minister, and school chaplain. Throughout the year, they are encouraged to explore their vocation and use their God-given gifts to serve others. Opportunities include:
- Service projects
- Participation in ministries (music, theatre, lectoring, altar serving, etc.)
- Supporting Virtue = Strength ceremonies through SportsLeader
The Alpha team also actively participates in the sacramental life of the Church by attending weekly Mass together and regularly spending time in Eucharistic adoration and reconciliation.
Each team member shares their personal faith journey by writing and presenting a testimony during the year.
Alpha students are held to the highest standards of servant leadership and serve as role models for the entire school community. Juniors are encouraged to consider applying after their class reflection day. Applications are available through the Office of Faith and Service, followed by an interview and selection process.
Below, you will find the current Alpha Team. Please keep them in your prayers, asking for the intercession of their patron saint for the year, Saint Maximilian Kolbe.
