OCIA
In partnership with Saint Anastasia Catholic Church, under the guidance of the Very Rev. Richard E. George II, the Office of Faith and Service is pleased to offer the Order of Christian Initiation for Teens and Adults here on campus during the school day. Recognizing the robust nature of a Catholic school education and the increased demand on student schedules outside of school hours, courses are available during the school day to students who have not yet been baptized or have not yet received their first communion who wish to enter into full communion with the Church. These courses take place twice a week during the lunch period from September to March where students will explore the three fundamental sources and guides of dogma within the Catholic Church:
- The Holy Bible
- The Catechism of the Catholic Church
- The 1983 Code of Canon Law
These courses – taught by the Director of Liturgy and Campus Ministry – are also open to any student, faculty, or staff member who simply wishes to learn more about the Catholic Church and the faith regardless of their own personal profession, who may not yet be seeking the sacraments or who may already be fully initiated.
At this time, in accordance with the stipulations of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, students who have already been baptized and received first communion who are seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation should enroll with their respective parishes.
