Virtue = Strength by SportsLeader

Virtue = Strength (V=S) is a program from SportsLeader, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting virtue, mentorship, and Catholic identity in both athletics and academics for over 20 years.

John Carroll partners with SportsLeader through V=S to celebrate the character, achievements, and good works of our students. This program reinforces the belief that Catholicism is not just something we learn, it is a way of life centered on loving God first and loving our neighbors as ourselves.

Each month, our school focuses on a specific virtue to help students grow as well-rounded individuals; academically, athletically, artistically, emotionally, and spiritually. Throughout the month, students engage with resources such as:

  • Novenas
  • Saints of the month
  • Videos and reflections
  • Activities centered on the featured virtue

These tools help students recognize, practice, and strengthen virtue both in the classroom and on the field.

The V=S program goes beyond recognizing grades or athletic success. It highlights the importance of making good choices, serving others, and responding to God’s call in everyday life.

At John Carroll, this program reflects one of our core beliefs: we are a community united in Christ’s love. By growing in virtue, we support one another on the journey toward holiness and sainthood.

Hallow

As of summer 2026, John Carroll is proud to partner with Hallow, a Catholic prayer and meditation app.

All faculty, staff, administrators, coaches, and students have free access to the full version of the app as a gift from the school. This resource is designed to support personal spiritual growth and deepen your prayer life.

Hallow offers a wide variety of content that can be personalized to your interests and needs, including:

  • Daily Scripture readings
  • The Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours)
  • Guided rosaries
  • Reflections and prayer challenges
  • Music for different moments, from workouts to Eucharistic adoration

All content is rooted in Catholic teaching and aligned with the traditions of the Church.

Faculty are encouraged to explore Hallow and integrate it into their classrooms. Using the app together can help students discover the richness of Catholic prayer and grow in their call to “pray without ceasing.”
