Virtue = Strength by SportsLeader

Virtue = Strength is a program of “Sports Leader” – a non-profit organization who, for over twenty years, has sought to inspire virtue, encourage mentoring, facilitate ceremony, and foster Catholic identity in sports and academics. John Carroll has partnered with V=S in an effort to recognize the accomplishments and good deeds of our students, teaching that Catholicism is a way of life which, above all, loves God first and neighbor as self. We work hand-in-hand with Sports Leader to strengthen the moral character of our students by intentionally identifying one new virtue each month to form students as complete beings: academically, athletically, artistically, emotionally, and spiritually. Materials are provided on a monthly basis, including novenas, saint highlights, videos, and more focused on the virtue being celebrated for a given month. The program teaches us how to identify and strengthen specific virtues in students both in the classroom and on the field. The materials and ceremonies created by Sports Leader uplift members of our community beyond quantifiable achievements, and instead celebrate the decision to boldly respond to God’s will for the good of others. This program embodies one of our most central beliefs: that we are a community united in Christ’s love. In exercising virtue, we strengthen our brothers and sisters on the path to sainthood.

Hallow

As of summer 2026, John Carroll is pleased to partner with Hallow. The full version of this prayer and meditation app is available to all faculty, staff, administration, coaches, and students as a gift from the school to aid in their own spiritual development. The Hallow App offers a wide variety of prayers, reflections, activities, and more that can be personalized to each user based on their preference, including but not limited to the daily readings of the church, the Divine Office, unique guided rosaries, and music across various genres for all occasions, from workouts to Eucharistic adoration. The content of the app is distinctly Catholic and in line with the teachings of the Church. Faculty are encouraged to incorporate the app into their classes and to explore its content alongside their students to grow in appreciation of the diverse offerings of the Catholic Church in encouragement to her members to pray without ceasing.
