Maria McCadden

With 29 years of experience in education, Maria McCadden has dedicated her career to inspiring creativity, fostering artistic expression, and nurturing young learners. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Art from Millersville University and has spent nearly three decades helping students discover their talents and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Before joining John Carroll High School, Mrs. McCadden served as an art teacher at St. Anastasia Catholic School and as a 1st–3rd grade teacher and art teacher at St. Francis Mission School. Her passion for the arts extends beyond the classroom through her professional involvement as an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America and as an Associate of the Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Mrs. McCadden is the proud mother of two adult children, Jonathan and Emily, both of whom attended St. Anastasia Catholic School and John Carroll High School. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and visiting art museums, always seeking new inspiration for her artistic pursuits.

A fascinating chapter of her life took place while attending Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, where she worked part-time in the library at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This unique opportunity provided behind-the-scenes access to the museum’s archives, conservation studios, and curators, offering an invaluable perspective on the world of art and preservation.

Originally from North Wales and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mrs. McCadden brings a rich background in education, artistry, and service to her work with students, encouraging them to see beauty, creativity, and possibility in the world around them.
